About Ed Clarke

Hello, my name is Ed Clarke.  I have been a Bladesmith for several years, and I am currently an American Bladesmith Society Apprentice Smith.  I have built this website to provide information to the general public about the art of bladesmithing, and as a contact point for those who wish to learn more or place an order for their own custom knife.

As a teenager, I remember my mother saying to me, "You have a strange fascination with knives...".  Although I  don't think it is "strange", she is right, I find all styles of blades fascinating.  I did collect knives for some time and I studied martial arts, which only served to feed my fascination.  A few years ago, I decided that the only way I would be able to quench my desires would be to make them myself.  I took several blacksmithing courses with the Central Maryland Blacksmith Guild to build some basics skills, and then took their basic bladesmith class.  It was a good start, but I wanted more, so in 2010 I joined the American Bladesmith Society, a wonderful group of bladesmiths whose help and guidance I can never repay.  I attended their Introduction to Bladesmithing class, and the rest is history.

Today I am an ABS Bladesmith, a martial artist, an ASE Certified Master Technician, and a Service Manager of an auto dealership, and every knife I have the opportunity to create is one more fascinating journey...
